IT Director

DESCRIPTION

Chapeau Studios is seeking an IT Manager experienced in Film/TV for full-time work in Los Angeles, CA. This role requires some days each week working on-site in our Westside, LA post production facility.

The IT Manager is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the current infrastructure, as well as architecting and implementing new technologies. You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment that supports content production teams in VFX, Design, Animation, Editorial, CG, and Production pipelines, both remotely and in our studio.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and manage user access to our production pipeline and technical infrastructure.

  • Monitor network and systems, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.

  • Support workstation management, imaging, and configuration.

  • Desktop Support Trouble-ticket management.

  • Ensure complete and timely documentation of systems and procedures.

  • Support configuration and usage of all production hardware, software and toolsets.

  • Design, build, and maintain asset management systems, production file servers, and render farms.

  • Maintain license servers.

  • Ensure security policies are in compliance with industry standards and client needs. 

  • Manage hardware, software, and toolset lifecycles (procurement, tracking, installation, maintenance, upgrading, decommissioning).

  • Manage and schedule IT personnel, including supporting the interests and growth of any IT staff.

  • Responsibly manage IT financial footprint.

 

NECESSARY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • CentOS / Windows 10 / MacOS Desktop Troubleshooting

  • Windows Server Active Directory Experience

  • Strong working knowledge of Linux, (CentOS 7, 8, and Ubuntu) including command line

  • Knowledge of Google Workspace

  • Post Production pipeline definition experience

  • Knowledge of security principles, best practices, and tools

  • Expertise with physical and Cloud networking, servers, storage and render engines

  • Experience Troubleshooting Autodesk Flame/Flare/Flame Assist on CentOS

  • Strong QA/QC background

  • VFX and/or Post-Production industry experience in Media and Entertainment

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Broadcast engineering experience

  • Python / Shell scripting / Google AppScript / AppleScript / Filemaker experience

  • Experience troubleshooting creative programs such as Adobe CC, C4D, Maya, Autodesk Flame, Houdini, and Nuke

  • Experience designing and implementing CG and 2D rendering pipelines

  • Unreal Engine and Perforce experience

  • C++ knowledge and capabilities

  • GitHub experience

  • Website front and back end coding and maintenance experience

  • Product Management experience

 

SCHEDULE

  • Full-time work during normal working hours

  • Flexibility for adding additional hours depending on project needs

  • This is a hybrid on-site and remote position
