Technical Project Manager - Capture - Onsite

Who are we hiring?
MSG is looking for a Project Manager with technical experience who will be responsible for delivering projects of medium to high complexity for MSG Ventures. The Capture team at MSG encompasses all aspects of creative capture, including cameras, multi-camera arrays, motion control, still cameras, pre-visualization, immersive media, optics, data storage and management, color, image evaluation, photogrammetry, with concurrent development in all of these areas. Based in the Capture team, the Capture Technical Project Manager will also work with colleagues and stakeholders across Creative Development, Software Engineering, Real-Time Software, Post-Production, and Playback teams to plan and execute projects of strategic importance to the organization, in the support of production, post-production, and playback. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record working with interactive, immersive, and/or VFX pipelines. You will focus on managing the needs and requirements for software projects, defining scope, and working closely with the larger engineering, creative development, and production teams to develop tools and next generation experiences for use in Sphere and across all MSG properties and partnerships. An emphasis on delivery and communication with executives and internal and external stakeholders, as well as teamwork within a matrixed environment is required. This position requires a versatile experience base in both production and project management processes, and ideally, a background and/or experience with production technology.

What will you do?

• Primary function and activities will include planning, organizing, managing, and tracking on the completion of specific technical projects to keep projects on time, on budget, and within scope.
• Budget, plan, and oversee small-scale internal test shoots and project sprints for show-motivated or technology required production efforts.
• Plan with a clear understanding of project vision and priorities, managing ongoing work within schedule and scope
• Serve as a point of contact for cross-functional project teams
• Create Scope of Work and contracts for independent contractors and 3rd party vendors and manage their deliverables
• Provide status reporting, budget tracking, and timeline and task tracking at all levels and stages of a project.
• Ensure product definitions provided by colleagues contain the necessary information and relay appropriate feedback and questions to stakeholders
• Utilize standard project management workflow to develop project plans and track budgets, resources, and key dates and milestones
• Support Capture’s integration with other creative and technical teams to ensure project and production milestone alignment and symmetry
• Create, maintain, and distribute project documentation, internal reporting, meeting minutes and deliverables.
• Proactively identify project risks and dependencies and communicate these to the appropriate project lead
• Maintain effective and clear communication to project sponsors, resources and management around project planning.
• Maintain key customer and vendor relationships
• Organize team meetings and executive presentations and status updates


What do you need to succeed?

• 8+ years’ experience in production, post-production, and/or production project management
• Experience in the entertainment and production industry preferred. Coordinator experience in a fast-paced production environment is a plus. Strong organizational skills are a must.
• Self-motivated and able to anticipate stakeholder needs and stay ahead of potential issues.
• Fluent in Microsoft Projects, Jira, Confluence and associated project management tools with experience building automated tracking dashboards and wikis for new teams
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills is critical with a proven ability to identify key concepts and communicate effectively with business stakeholders and executive leadership.
• Previous experience developing and managing vendor relationships.
• Demonstrated expertise in producing, planning, budgeting and project management. Prior experience as a producer or production manager in the media and entertainment space is a plus.
• Be able to work calmly under pressure and/or challenging condition and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Able to inspire and motivate production teams around a common goal, with a positive attitude
