Who are we hiring?
The AV Network Technician role will join the groundbreaking MSG Sphere team in the development of technology for our Sphere Studios and MSG Sphere venues. The candidate will work to develop strategies, workflow guidelines, and SOPs for ensuring our AV over IP solutions meet and remain at the desired specifications. The role will liaise with several internal departments and external vendors to design, install, maintain and operate our AV networks for MSG Sphere Studios, with a direct link to our new flagship MSG Sphere venue. The candidate will have extensive experience with complicated networking setups, ST2110, IPFM, Cisco, Mellanox, Show Control, and low latency system architecture.
What will you do?
• As part of the Playback department, this role will oversee the performance and specifications of our AV over IP systems
• Manage, maintain and operate high end networked equipment
• Work with various departments on specifications and qualitative analysis of Cisco and Mellanox configurations
• Closely determine standards and test protocols to measure performance and network diagnostic analysis
• Ability to write technical SOPs, Content Deliverable Specifications, Workflow charts, Operating Check Lists, Site Acceptance Tests, Qualitative Assurance Lists
• Design and engineering support for networked AV equipment for all types of theatrical equipment used in the Sphere environment.
• Deep understanding of SMPTE specifications (ST2110/ST2059/ST2022), NMOS, layer 3 routing, firewalls, spine & leaf topology, IPFM, IEEE-1588 PTP v2, generic video/audio over IP solutions (NDI, RTP etc).
• Design and implement a logical security approach to controlling traffic flows, and data access, whilst guaranteeing system performance.
What do you need to succeed?
• ST2110 training certified
• 5+ years experience as a solutions architect
• Extensive knowledge of networking products from various manufacturers, including Cisco, Mellanox, Arista & Juniper
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills as well as juggling competing priorities and changing expectations.
• Knowledge and interest in current trends in video and playback technology.
• Must be a team player and work well under tight deadlines.
