Associate Fellow - Audio & Infrasound Engineering

Who are we hiring?
The MSG Ventures Advanced Engineering team invents, identifies, and applies new and emerging technologies to create platforms that enrich immersive experiences, spanning haptics, 4D sensory, video, robotics, and audio. The Associate Fellow, Audio & Infrasound Engineering, is responsible for providing deep technical, operational, and creative expertise toward the design and implementation of immersive audio and haptic systems for the MSG Sphere and existing and future MSG venues. As a subject-matter-expert in these fields, he/she will lead projects with other MSG departments including Studios, Venue Operations, and Design & Construction. He/she will also be hands-on in research, design and implementation. This person will also leverage their network of industry experts to form partnerships with MSG Ventures to accelerate the development of novel immersive technologies.

What will you do?

• Drive the development and implementation of immersive audio systems including speaker development, playout systems, and control systems.
• Support a long-term immersive technology development strategy for Ventures by leveraging deep industry experience, awareness of technology capabilities, and business strategy for MSG Entertainment.
• Coordinate with the Studios, Production, and Operations teams to align strategy and tactics with capabilities.
• Research emerging and transformational technologies, partnering with OEMs and academia as appropriate, to enhance Ventures knowledge.
• Generate intellectual property in the form of patent applications for immersive entertainment technologies
• Lead complex, multi-party audio development projects that involve creation of new technologies and capabilities.
• Identify and innovate emerging technologies that will create more immersive experiences for our guests
• Be a spokesperson and evangelist for Sphere audio and show production technologies to educate and involve audio industry professionals through hands-on creative demonstrations, presentations, personal meetings, and networking.


What do you need to succeed?

• Bachelor’s degree in a related entertainment technology field
• An industry recognized Subject-Matter-Expert in audio platforms.
• 15+ years of direct industry experience in design and implementation, with a verifiable track record of deployed systems.
• Deep knowledge of design process and implementation of audio and immersive systems in public venues
• Extensive hands-on experience in a design/build environment for at least 3 large entertainment venues, with a thorough understanding of the design and construction sequencing and process.
• Experience working with executive leadership teams tactically and strategically
• Extensive knowledge of configuration and programming for Q-LAN, QSC products, Flux/Spat, NAT/SAD.
• Application of wavefield synthesis
• Working knowledge of AFMG’s EASE system for parametric audio design and analysis
• Experience with show control systems
• Deep relationships at well-established industry leaders a plus
• Demonstrated track record of creating and protecting intellectual property
