Assistant
Professor of Professional Esports Production - Ferris State University.
This
is a tenure-track faculty position within the School of Digital Media (SDM) at
Ferris State University. This faculty position will serve students in the newly
created Professional esports Production (ESPT) online degree program, serving
alongside faculty teaching in three other bachelor's degree programs within the
school. The ESPT program prepares students to organize, plan, host, and
facilitate live competitions, including live-streaming, coaching, security, and
related skills/functions. The new faculty member will teach from a list of
courses, including Game Studies, Casting and Streaming, Event Management,
Security, Coaching, Psychology of Play and Players, Culture and Diversity of
Gaming, and Live Streaming Interface Design.
The
SDM at Ferris embraces and encourages the creation of applied learning
experiences for students, which prepares graduates for careers. This position
is based on the main campus of Ferris State, located in Big Rapids, Michigan.
Online instruction and course content delivery will be required. The faculty
position will be part of the reporting structure for the School of Digital
Media (reporting to the School's Chair) and the College of Business.
The
anticipated start date of this position is August of 2023 at the earliest and
January of 2024 at the latest.
