Senior Rigger

Versatile Media is a global company that has created an end-to-end virtual production workflow. Our North American location is based in Vancouver, Canada where we run performance capture and visualization stages that run on real-time technology. Our passion is Virtual Production, combining real-time rendering technology, traditional film workflows and proprietary research and development, as well as creating original animation and live action IP. The Sr. Rigger will work closely with the Assets, Mocap and VAD teams to build rigging and creature FX systems for organic models, hard-surfaced models, and props. This role is based in Vancouver and will require a minimum of one day per week onsite.


How you will spend your time….

  • Designing efficient rigs appropriate to the production’s needs.
  • Developing and maintaining an efficient dynamics setup for muscles and/or cloth for various creatures.
  • Working with multiple teams on suitability of rigs for assets, mocap and animation
  • Research and development for future rigging tool sets
  • Implementing rigs within unreal
  • Updating and working with metahuman assets


What we are looking for....

  • Minimum 3-5+ years of experience in a similar role within the gaming or VFX industry.
  • Degree or relevant experience in VFX, Gaming, or Computer Graphics.
  • Proficient in current Maya rigging techniques.
  • Experience with muscle and cloth simulations for creature FX.
  • Experience developing and maintaining tools for use in a studio pipeline.
  • Knowledge of creature rigging using Anim Blueprints in Unreal Engine is desired.
  • Proficiency in Python; knowledge of PySide and PyQt a bonus but not required.
  • Desire to work with new machine learning rigging techniques and procedures.
  • Experience with Ziva Dynamics toolset a plus.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently when required.
  • Interest and ability to mentor other team members and share knowledge.
  • Ability to solve problems with a high degree of adaptability.
