Lecturer in Game Design

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Department of Art, Art History & Design at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) invites applications for a full-time lecturer in Game Design to begin on August 7, 2024.  A full-time lecturer at UAH is a teaching position with a 4/4 load and no research responsibilities. APPOINTMENT DATE: August 7, 2024

 

REQUIREMENTS:


·         MFA in Game Design or equivalent degree

·         In-depth knowledge of game design, video game scripting, and video game production pipelines and processes

·         The ability to teach Introductory Game Design (tabletop), Game Scripting (currently primarily using Unreal), and advanced, team-based production classes

 

Not required but preferred:

 

·         College teaching experience

·         Game development experience (including published titles) 

·         The ability to teach courses in other interactive design areas, such as web design and creative coding.

·         AR and VR development experience is a plus.

 

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:  The Department of Art, Art History & Design is a vibrant, growing program that offers BA and BFA degrees in six concentrations, as well as interdisciplinary minors in Web Communications and Game Design and Development. The Department values collaboration and is dedicated to student engagement and success. It has three galleries as well as one off-campus project space. It is housed in a spacious, well-equipped facility.

 

ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Alabama in Huntsville comprises nine departments and 88 full-time faculty. We offer a wide array of programs in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
