Associate Animator
Description
I'm not in Kansas anymore... That is what you will be saying when you get a chance to work on the amazing and exciting projects that await you at Insomniac Games! We are looking for an associate animator who has the chops to come in and work with some of the most talented (and interesting) animators out there. What you will be working on in your associate animator position? You'll be creating high quality animations of 3D characters, weapons, vehicles and cameras for both gameplay and cinematic sequences.
What does that mean? Break it down for me! The position would include:
Working with Lead Animator and Director of Animation to refine and develop animation skills.
Collaborating effectively with the rest of the development team, including fellow animators, riggers, artists, designers, modelers, game designers, production managers and programmers.
Working with more senior animators in collaborating with programming department and supervisors to create animation lists and help implement animations into the game engines.
Evaluating and offering suggestions on tools and mel scripts from Rigging/Tools personnel, and keeping current on Maya.
Maintaining a basic understanding of the Character Set-up structures and be familiar with skeletons, IK, FK, facial animation techniques, constraints and other systems used for character animation.
Understanding how to view and build mobys and enter emd data by using all the necessary tools including proprietary software such as Phoenix.
Collect, create and study reference material from various sources whenever appropriate. Also to stay informed on the latest in animation techniques from various sources such as magazines, websites, movies, television, dvds, etc. (all that surfing on the web will come in handy here)
