Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in Animation

The Film & Media Arts Department within the College of Fine Arts at the University of Utah seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Animation Production and Studies on the University of Utah’s Asia Campus in Incheon, South. Korea.

Duties: The successful applicant will teach courses from the core curriculum of the Film & Media Arts Department including Introduction to Animation Techniques, Traditional Animation I, Computer Animation I, and Storyboarding/Visual Storytelling. They will collaborate with other faculty and administration to construct cost-effective strategies for equipment acquisition and media management in an undergraduate film program serving over 130 majors and growing rapidly and participate in service to the UAsia Global Campus and community.

Qualifications: Candidates should have a terminal degree in Animation or Film Production with an animation emphasis (e.g., MFA or PhD) or a related field. Examples of creative works of Animation. Experience teaching at the college-level. Experience teaching the Film & Media Arts Department’s animation curriculum or very similar courses and curriculum preferred.

Benefits: Salary is commensurate with experience. All full-time employees are provided a health benefit plan. Housing is provided for University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC) employees with an E-1 or a F-4 Korean Visa. Some personal and professional travel expenses are provided by the UAC.

Note: This 12-month non-tenure-track position requires relocation to South Korea. The appointment will be for the 2021-2022 school year and is renewable upon review. As a condition of employment, a successful candidate must be able to get a valid work visa for South Korea.
Location: This position is located at the University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC) in Incheon (Songdo area), South Korea (http://songdoibd.com/) Along with Ghent University, George Mason University, and Stony Brook University (SUNY), the University of Utah is one of the founding institutions of the Incheon Global Campus (IGC). All students spend three years studying at the UAC in South Korea and one year studying in Salt Lake City. All graduating students at UAC receive a University of Utah degree. Currently, the UAC offers five undergraduate majors in Communication, Psychology, Film & Media arts, Civil and Environment engineering, and Urban Ecology and two graduate programs in Public Health and Biomedical Informatics.

4. A copy of the transcript from the institution awarding their highest degree.
5. An example of their creative work (usually a Vimeo link).
Finalists will be required to solicit three current letters of recommendation from their references and send an official transcript. This position may require the successful completion of a criminal background check.
