Who are we hiring?
As part of MSG Sphere Studio’s Design and Creative Services team, Visual Designers/Storyboard artists collaborate to design concepts ranging in fidelity from sketches through detailed 2D/3D designs. They work with cross-functional teams to research and design the visual language for various motion design concepts across a variety of platforms and styles. A main focus will be designing the foundational visual language for content on the Exosphere, and storyboarding the concepts going into production. We are looking for a wildly creative teammate with a strong eye and versatility of style. They should be trend aware but also timeless and fully aware of how to design and sketch for a motion design pipeline. The Visual Designer/storyboard artist should feel emboldened by the challenge of being a part of the team designing a world’s first medium & platform.
What will you do?
• Develop visual communication designs, from concept sketching through final storyboards.
• Research, explore and sketch various states of an animation and types of motion for different spatial perspectives.
• Sketch/Storyboard quickly and efficiently for the Exosphere specific template, taking POV, UV wrapping and scale into account.
• Collaborate with project teams in research, ideation and development of original, scalable concepts for various media: motion graphics, live show visuals, brand installations, & user experiences.
• Partake in ideation and design sessions, delivering concept sketches for multiple iterations.
• Source references and identify trends from the worlds of design, art, film and music.
• Ensure that all work meets a high level of creativity, innovation and brand association.
What do you need to succeed?
• 1-2 years or past internships of experience working in a fast-paced professional creative production studio.
• Proficient in a variety of methods to convey ideas and concepts (e.g. storytelling, storyboards, mood boards, concept treatments, etc.)
• Demonstrated visual design software proficiency (Photoshop, InDesign, Keynote, PowerPoint, Illustrator etc.).
• Strong design background; understanding of typography, graphics, layout, form, color and spatialization; well versed in design process and production methods.
• A knack for capturing the spirit and motion of a concept in sketch/storyboard format.
• Able to work in varying degrees of fidelity, from sketching through production (speed vs quality).
• Able to communicate the thinking behind your process.
• Strong collaboration and relationship building skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of emerging creative technologies, best practices and experimental approaches in design, marketing and brand communications.
• Real-time software experience a plus
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively.
