Lighting Supervisor

Flying Bark has an exciting new opportunity on an animated feature film we’re producing! We’re looking for an experienced Lighting Supervisor who can work from our beautiful studio in Sydney starting in March 2023.

The Lighting Supervisor works closely with the CG and VFX Supervisors and the Producer to bid, schedule and execute the lighting production schedule. It is a highly collaborative role that relies heavily on excellent communication with the other creative and technical Supervisors, motivational leadership skills and a superior knowledge of the CG pipeline, processes and software. 

Here's the kind of skills we're looking for:

• Ability to direct, inspire and mentor their team, and appropriately assigning work to suit artists’ strengths, whilst also being able to give constructive and regular feedback
  
• Substantial experience and understanding of Katana, Nuke and Arnold in a production-based environment
  
• Have a proven track record of seamlessly working with 2D, 2.5D and CG shots, understanding limitations in 2D and CG animation pipelines
• Ability to think of creative solutions to enhance shots, without overshadowing the overall story point or animation
• A solid knowledge of lighting and compositing workflows and ability to work interactively with all upstream departments to resolve issues quickly
• Aid their team in the creation and use of templates for lighting and bashcomps;
• Developing and working within the constraints of the pipeline, and providing feedback about where workflows could be improved
• Maintaining strong communication and the ability to work to a verbal or visual brief, flagging in advance any issues that may arise.
