MudSling][ - Onslaught
Description:
An UnrealPlayground ONS Mapping Contest entry. You can start small forest fires, hack into enemy web cams and sneak into the enemy bunker for purposes of sabotage with explosives.
This level design encorporates use of multiple terrains to create cavernous bunkers that can be rigged with explosives by the opposing team. This added a level of gameplay not found in other maps. As in nearly all the maps I've made in various game engines, this map uses available objects, Trigger Systems, etc. to alter the gameplay and offer a new experience.
PeakPerformance - Team Deathmatch
Description:
Part of the Old Skool Rulz mapping competition at UnrealPlayground. The rules limited the use of advanced features of the Unreal Engine, including limits on visible BSP triangles, no static meshes (except Movers), no terrain, etc. to give a feel of "old skool" UT and provide extremely fast-running maps.
ROOtator - UT2004 Mutator
Description:
This Mutator populates any map with Kangaroo NonPlayer Characters (ROO NPCs). Options include the Australian RooLette and RooHunt minigames.
I developed these Kangaroo NPCs as stand-alone autonomous creatures a year earlier. I adapted them to be populated in any map for use in this mutator and these minigames.
This project represents AI Programming, Game Design, Interface Design and integration of work done in applications outside UnrealEd. (Maya & Photoshop)
Old Skool Monsta Toolz - Game Mod / Mapping Toolset
Description:
Old Skool Monsta Toolz (OSMT) is a toolset for UT2004 that is designed to reintroduce complex old skool Unreal monster AI and it's related actors for use in any gametype. These tools mimic the original Unreal actors and settings so that 'old timers' can easily pick it up and 'newcomers' have lots of online reference documentation already available. The toolset also includes a new gametype, OSM Adventure (OSM), which makes use of the toolset to facilitate story-driven singleplayer or cooperative adventures through progressive Objectives comprised of puzzles, traps and monsters. I humbly thank Steven Polge and the rest of the team at Epic Games for the original design plan for the AI. This toolset is a loving adaptation of the original design and makes significant additional improvements on that work.
This project represents work in Game Design, Game Programming, AI Programming and Tools Programming for the Unreal Engine.
Gauntlet - OSM Adventure (singleplayer)
Description:
A single map adventure. This map represents an example for the OSM Adventure gametype provided by my mod, Old Skool Monsta Toolz. OSM Adventure level designers are encouraged to reverse engineer this map to see how this gametype and it's related actors can be implemented. This map happens to be a singleplayer adventure.
As an example map for this new gametype I developed, I needed it to shine. I use very complex Trigger Systems to create puzzles the player must achieve and traps they must survive. I use the available tools and systems from the OSMT creature AI to provide a wide variety of challenges in combat. I make use of a branching objective setup to give the player a choice of routes to take to reach the final battle. Each route emphasizes a different aspect of OSM Adventure gameplay: puzzles, traps or monsters.
